Incorporating aSPI and eRDI in Drought Indices Calculator (DrinC) Software for Agricultural Drought Characterisation and Monitoring

چکیده

The agricultural sector is vulnerable to extreme phenomena such as droughts, particularly in arid and semi-arid environments regions where water infrastructure limited. Devising preparedness plans, including means for efficient monitoring timely identification of drought events, essential informed decision making on mitigation management, especially the water-dependant sector. This paper presents incorporation two new indices, designed identification, Drought Indices Calculator (DrinC) software. These namely Agricultural Standardized Precipitation Index (aSPI) Effective Reconnaissance (eRDI), require commonly available meteorological data, while they employ concept effective precipitation, taking into account amount that contributes productively plant development. design principles DrinC software leading proper use indices assessment, selection appropriate reference periods, calculation time steps other related issues, are presented discussed. aSPI eRDI enhances applicability towards characterisation analysis, through a straightforward comprehensible approach, useful operational purposes.

DrinC: a software for drought analysis based on drought indices

Drought is a complex phenomenon which can be characterised mainly by its severity, duration and areal extent. Among these three dimensions, drought severity is the key factor which can be used for drought analysis. Drought indices are typically used to assess drought severity in a meaningful way. DrinC (Drought Indices Calculator) is a software package which was developed for providing a simple...

Comparing Univariate and Multivariate Indices in Drought Monitoring

In this study, drought characteristics of Arak, Bandar Anzali, Tabriz, Tehran, Rasht, Zahedan, Shiraz and Kerman stations during the statistical period of 1956 to 2015 were studied by Reconnaissance Drought Index (RDI) and Standardized Precipitation Index. Precipitation and temperature data were needed to calculate RDI. Precipitation data was also required to estimate SPI. In this study, Drinc ...

Monitoring Meteorological Drought in Iran Using Remote Sensing and Drought Indices

Drought is a major environmental disaster in many parts of the world. Knowledge about the timing, severity and extentof drought can aid planning and decision-making. Drought indices derived from in-situ meteorological data have coarsespatial and temporal resolutions, thus, obtaining a real-time drought condition over a large area is difficult. This studyused advanced very high resolution radiom...

Assessment of Multivariate Standardized Drought Index (MSDI) and Meteoro-Agricultural Drought Monitoring in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Porvince

Drought, as one of the most complicated natural events, causes many direct and indirect damages each year. Hence, single variable identification and monitoring of drought may not be appropriate enough for decision-making and management. In this study, in order to monitor the meteorological-agricultural drought in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Multivariate Standardized Drought Index (MSDI)...

Meteorological drought monitoring using several drought indices (case study: Salt Lake Basin in Iran)

Drought detecting is a necessary aspect of drought risk management. It is generally performed usingdifferent drought indices that are effectively continuous functions of rainfall and other hydro- meteorologicalvariables. A number of drought indices have been introduced and used in various countries to date. In thecurrent research, four meteorological drought indices including the standardized p...
